Now Wait a Minute… World-record Grabbing Toga Party - News Release

The weekend Festival will highlight the 40th Anniversary of the premiere of “Animal House,” Aug. 17-19, 2018.

COTTAGE GROVE, ORE., 23 JULY 2018— Toga! Toga! Toga! will be the clarion call at the emerging Bohemian Festival in Cottage Grove, Aug. 17-19, 2018.

The commemoration, beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, will feature the World’s Largest Toga Party, with a nod from the Guinness World Records to judge if at least 3,700 toga-sporting attendees come to break the current world record. Tickets and T-shirts for the festival and toga party are now available here.

Otis Day and original members of the Knights, The Kingsmen, and The Cry, will perform at a concert in Bohemia Park in the challenge to win back the world’s record. All-white togas are mandatory to qualify for the Guinness Record and admission to the concert. Accessories may be in color.

The event will be punctuated with a film festival, a parade at the original film site where the parade was filmed in the Animal House movie, the toga party, a family-friendly atmosphere and movie memorabilia such as the Deathmobile, the original bar from the Delta House, and more.

The weekend will kick off with the Bohemian Film Festival in Cottage Grove, as a partner of the Eugene International Film Festival, coinciding with a celebration of the 40th anniversary tribute to the making of the movie favorite “Animal House.”

The Bohemian Film Festival has closed its call for entries and the films can now be viewed. More than 180 films from all around the world have been submitted. The winner will earn a $3,000 grand prize for the Best Film and will feature juried national and international, shorts and feature-length films.

In each category, the winning film will be awarded a “Category Festival Best Film” trophy. Some films may also receive a “Festival Best Film Nominee” certificate. All films selected to be shown at the festival will receive an “Official Selection” certificate to recognize their screening at the festival. Screenings of the submissions and thousands of attendees are expected at this inaugural event.

Selected filmmakers who attend will receive an invitation to the hosted Filmmakers’ Reception where the winner will be announced, on Thursday, Aug.16. The reception will be a media event and an opportunity to meet other filmmakers whose films have been screened. In addition, the invitation-only reception will include selected film industry professionals with decades in the industry. Beginning filmmakers will have the opportunity to connect, network, and learn from these professionals.

Location Casting Director for Animal House, Katherine Wilson, and another filmmaker for the movie, Bob Laird, will host a Q&A following the screening of their documentary “Animal House of Blues,” which was released nationally in May, 2018, and achieved high ratings. “Animal House of Blues” documents the birth of “The Blues Brothers” following jam sessions in 1977 in Eugene with “Animal House” star John Belushi and Eugene-area musicians, including Curtis Salgado.
